What does it look like to grow and sell at the same site?
That's the question we asked ourselves to make food fresher, more affordable and more sustainable.
We started in 2009 with the mission to development a farm and market that could grow its own food onsite so customers can experience their food growing as they made their purchase decisions. The initial design included 4 shipping containers for mushrooms, walls using vertical growing systems and a central greenhouse for shoppers to peruse and harvest their own greens.
Coming soon, we’ll be launching a DIY indoor container farm kit, designed to be 40% cheaper than other container farms. With lessons learned from the Cropbox, our research partner North Carolina State University and years of growing food we've greatly improved the performance of the container farm. You can check out the first container farm located at our research partner, North Carolina State Universities’ J. C. Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, NC.
